"Mike did an amazing job on my car. I have multiple dogs and kids and he worked until the car looked better than the day I bought it. Can’t recommend him enough!!"

The Art of Auto Paint Correction

Paint correction for cars, trucks, and boats is the process of removing surface scratches and imperfections from paintwork and returning it to “like new” condition. The process involves the use of mild abrasives and machine polishers and other products. How will you know when a vehicle’s paintwork has been properly repaired? A fully corrected vehicle show only clear reflections and no swirl marks or scratches when viewed in direct sunlight.

Royal Adas’s Paint Correction Process

Some scratches on the surface of vehicles can be fixed simply by covering them up with filler and matching paint colors. Most corrective procedures for auto paint are much more labor-intensive.

  • A small amount of the topcoat (clear coat or paint) is carefully removed with a mild abrasive
  • The finish is removed down to the depth of the scratch if possible, but without removing too much paint
  • The affected area is then cleaned and thoroughly dried to remove any loose paint chips or dirt
  • The surface is then polished to a smooth finish
  • The surface is cleaned again, with alcohol to remove any oils left behind from the polishing
  • What's left is a clean sheen. We challenge you to find the original blemish!

Paint Correction is a Specialized Process

Paint correction services are not generally for the novice detailer. It is a very labor-intensive process and takes quite a bit of time to complete the steps thoroughly and correctly. Amateurs should only attempt to correct the paintwork on their vehicles if they have enough experience to carry it out safely or are not too overly concerned with the result. Simply adding a filler to a scratch often will not last. For best results, true paint correction is only achieved by removing the blemish.
